2. Is it safe or advisable for foreigners to drive in Singapore?
Driving in Singapore is very safe, with rules of the road which are quite strictly adhered to by drivers.
There are none of the horror stories of driving in other Asian countries. Following Bristish convention, Singapore cars drive on the left
side of the road.
3. Is Singapore right-hand-drive or left-hand-drive?
Singapore cars are right-hand-drive, meaning they drive on the left side of the road. This is similar to the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia,
New Zealand, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Indonesia.
4. Can I use my national driving licence, or must I use an international licence?
If you are in Singapore on a Social Visit Pass, all that is needed is your valid foreign driving licence. However, if this permit
is not in English, you should carry a valid International Driving Permit. Permanent Residents or foreigners who have been in Singapore for
more than 12 months need to convert to a Singapore driving licence .
5. Besides myself, can anyone else drive the car?
This depends on the type of insurance that the customer asks for. It is possible to get insurance for other drivers to be covered.
6. What about issues like government permits, road tax and repairs?
New cars sold in Singapore are subject to environment regulations as well as import tax, additional registration fee, and certificate
of entitlement. For the day-to-day running of the car on Singapore roads, all cars are required to have paid up road tax and current insurance.
Older cars – from three years – need to show an inspection certificate at the time of renewing the road tax.
Eurokars Leasing can handle all these issues for its customers.
7. Do the cars come with insurance?
All cars must have current insurance covering the driver before they can be driven. Eurokars Leasing will handle this for its customers.
